If you’re travelling with children on your winter getaway, you may be reassured to know that there are plenty of childcare options in the resort. Booking in advance is essential and you can usually do this through the operator you book your trip with.
Are there any English speaking doctors?
The medical centre in Gallery le Ecrins has many English speaking doctors should you require one.
Do the Ski Instructors Speak English?
Yes they do! ESF is the main French ski school but, as most of the clients are English speaking, they do speak the language too. Most of the private ski schools in the resort offer primarily English speaking instructors, so you definitely won’t struggle.
Are there any family rates or child discounts on lift passes?
During the winter season the La Plagne lift pass company offers some discounts for families and children. You can also opt for a pass that only covers a limited area if you’re planning to spend most of your time skiing with youngsters who may not be able to travel too far.
Can I cross-country ski here?
Yes you certainly can. Cross-country skiing is a wonderful sport that is gaining in popularity. It is a great way to explore and see more of the Alpine countryside at a slower pace and there are lots of options in this resort. Refer to the piste map for the trails.
Can I drink the water?
The water in the resort is pretty good and, whilst it can sometimes taste a little mineral-like, it is perfectly safe. The mineral taste is more prominent during snow melting periods, but generally the water here is amazing; you can’t really argue with mountain spring water.

The laundrette is in the Centre Commercial. If you’re staying in a chalet you will probably have a machine available to use, but if not, the public laundrette is an excellent facility.
